Product Description:
The KL3403-0010 is an analog input module manufactured by Beckhoff and assigned to the KL Analog Input Modules series. Mounted inside a control cabinet, it is linked to the system backbone through the K-bus and delivers synchronized electrical power data to the PLC. By measuring three-phase conductors and their corresponding line voltages simultaneously, the unit supports energy-aware control strategies, load diagnostics, and preventive maintenance routines in industrial automation lines.
This terminal supplies six galvanically isolated measurement paths, grouped as three current and three voltage inputs, all digitized with a 16-bit converter that internally resolves values to 21 bits. For current acquisition it employs a 6.8 mΩ shunt and distinguishes changes as small as 0.005 A. Power calculations start at 0.5 W resolution, while the direct path tolerates up to 5 A before an external transformer is required. Frequency components of the mains are tracked with 0.1 Hz granularity in five-second intervals, and the true-RMS algorithm runs at 64 000 samples per second to maintain accuracy under distorted waveforms. Voltage inputs present 500 kΩ impedance to the source, minimizing loading effects during high-impedance sensing.
Electrical insulation between the field contacts and the communication backplane is rated at 1500 V, and the device can monitor lines up to 500 V AC 3~ without auxiliary attenuators. The compact enclosure occupies only 12 mm × 100 mm × 68 mm, carries an IP20 protection rating, and draws 115 mA from the K-bus, leaving ample power for adjacent terminals. Energy registers advance in 0.05 kWh increments so that utility totals can be read directly in the PLC. When higher primary currents are used, a configurable transformer ratio up to R × 5 A scales the readings without recalibration or loss of precision.
