Product Description:
The KL3351-0000 is a two-channel analog input terminal produced by Beckhoff within the KL Analog Input Modules series. It conditions strain-gauge full bridges and forwards digitized measurement values to the system controller. By integrating bridge excitation, signal amplification, and A/D conversion in one 12 mm-wide housing, the terminal streamlines force or weight acquisition in industrial automation cells, filling roles in gravimetric dosing, web tension feedback, and press load monitoring across packaging and material-handling applications.
The terminal energizes each sensor bridge with 5 V DC, a stable excitation that enables precise differential measurement on the integrated full-bridge front end. Up to 20 mA of supply current is available, so higher-resistance load cells remain within operating limits even on long cable runs. Internally, a Sigma-Delta converter samples the conditioned signal and stores a 16-bit value in the process image, while the two channels place 2 × 16-bit words on the K-bus for the controller. The selectable digital filter is centered on 50 Hz to reject mains interference, and the complete acquisition cycle finishes within 250 ms. Total measurement uncertainty does not exceed ±0.1 % of full scale, maintaining repeatability for batching or quality-assurance routines that depend on tight tolerance windows.
For physical installation, the module clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail and is powered solely through the system’s K-bus backplane, eliminating separate field wiring. Two strain-gauge inputs are routed through eight spring-cage terminal points, and each channel can reference signals up to 10 V without external attenuators. An IP20 housing helps prevent accidental contact, while the design tolerates up to 95 % relative humidity during operation. The availability of 2 independently processed channels lets a single terminal monitor dual load cells in compact multi-axis force measurement assemblies.
