Product Description:
The KL3314-0022 is an analog input module manufactured by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. Positioned on the K-bus inside a control cabinet, it translates low-level process signals into digital words so a PLC can apply closed-loop control, alarm handling, or data logging. Cold-junction handling, channel diagnostics, and linearization functions mean the part is aimed at temperature acquisition tasks that need dependable conversion accuracy and stable signal processing.
The process image uses 4 x 16-bit, so four independent 16-bit values are supplied to the controller every bus cycle for separate channel evaluation. Measurement granularity is 0.1 °C/digit, providing fine temperature steps that support tight process tolerances. The housing carries a protection rating of IP20, limiting installation to enclosures that already shield against dust and moisture. The module draws power via K-bus, eliminating a separate supply terminal and reducing wiring inside the terminal row. Cold-junction drift is corrected by an internal compensation circuit that references the built-in sensor rather than an external reference block, which simplifies cabinet layout and improves repeatability.
The unit processes 4 inputs that share a common shield ground and use 35 mm mounting rail hardware for rapid snap-on assembly. Field devices are wired with a 2-wire topology, so each channel needs only a signal line and a return conductor, which is useful when retrofitting existing cabinets or routing conductors through narrow ducts. An optional status telegram width of 4 x 8-bit can be enabled to add per-channel flags such as sensor error or limit violation without changing the main measurement format. Full-range linearization remains active across the entire span, open-circuit recognition flags broken leads immediately, and the variable installation position lets the terminal strip be mounted horizontally or vertically to match available panel space.
