Product Description:
The KL3314-0010 is a thermocouple analog input module from Beckhoff in the KL Analog Input Modules series. Mounted on a standard Bus Coupler, it converts low-level millivolt signals from field sensors into digital words for the PLC. The unit helps control systems monitor multiple heating zones, ovens, or environmental chambers without dedicated temperature controllers by bringing precise measurement directly onto the DIN rail.
Four galvanically isolated thermocouple channels share the terminal, so a single device provides 4 x 16 bits of input data to the fieldbus master. Each sensor is wired with the 2-wire technique, which simplifies installation and eliminates separate sense conductors. During acquisition, the circuitry samples all channels every 250 ms, a fixed conversion time that balances noise suppression against update rate. Measured values are transferred with a basic resolution of 0.1 °C/digit, allowing fine tracking of gradual temperature changes. To reduce ambient influence, the terminal uses Internal cold-junction compensation on every cycle. If a sensor lead breaks, the module asserts its open-circuit recognition flag so the PLC can react before temperature control is lost.
Data reaches the controller in Two's complement format, and additional diagnostic information can be appended through the optional 4 x 8 bits status channel. The signal path includes a digital filter with a default constant of 0x0000, which suppresses typical mains interference while preserving stable measurement behavior. Physical mounting is flexible, and no jumpers or DIP switches are required because the module has no configurable settings. The plastic housing meets the IP20 protection class, so the terminal is suited for closed control cabinets where protection against solid-object ingress is required.
