Product Description:
The KL3302 analog input module is manufactured by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. As a signal interface, the terminal converts external sensor signals into digital words that the PLC can process, allowing precise monitoring of process temperatures, millivolt outputs, and other low-level quantities in automated machinery. Its two input channels support compact installations by increasing the number of signals that can be connected within a limited amount of panel space. The module provides a practical interface between low-level analog sensing devices and the control system without requiring separate signal conversion hardware.
It accepts sensors through a two-wire connection, and the inputs are sampled into a data frame containing 2 × 16 bits of measurement data. Under the default settings, the internal sigma-delta converter completes a new value every 250 ms. An analog filter introduces its first notch at 25 Hz to reduce line-frequency interference before conversion. The total measurement error is < ±0.5% FS, so process deviation remains within one-half percent of full scale without additional calibration. The terminal does not provide open-circuit detection, making external cable supervision necessary when thermocouples or high-impedance sources are used. This arrangement allows both channels to be processed consistently while retaining the signal quality needed for temperature and low-voltage measurements.
The housing clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail, while operating power and fieldbus communication are supplied through the K-bus by adjacent terminals. The enclosure meets the IP20 protection class, so the module is intended for installation inside a control cabinet that protects it from moisture and debris. Temperature results are represented with a resolution of 0.1 °C per digit, while voltage measurements are quantized at 4 µV per digit, enabling the detection of small signal changes. When diagnostic data are required, an optional status channel adds 2 × 8 bits to the process image and reports overrange conditions or sensor faults without changing the measurement payload. The compact housing permits continuous operation beside other Beckhoff I/O terminals and simplifies integration into modular control assemblies.
