Product Description:
The KL3208-0010 is an analog input module from Beckhoff that belongs to the KL Analog Input Modules series. It connects to the controller through the K-bus backplane and is intended for recording temperature or resistance signals in distributed I/O stations. The default sensor type is PT1000, and the channel electronics can also interpret Ni1000, NTC, and potentiometric or resistive elements, which gives the module flexibility with different field devices.
This module offers 8 differential input channels that use a 2-wire connection scheme, so each channel requires only the sensor leads and return path. A compact housing width of 12 mm helps keep cabinet space requirements low, while the converter resolution of 0.01 °C/digit supports fine temperature tracking in slow-moving processes. Power for the electronics is drawn from the K-bus, and the bus load remains moderate at a typical current draw of 85 mA. Each sensing path uses a measuring excitation of 0.5 mA, which helps limit self-heating in precision resistive probes. Raw data and status information are transferred to the controller through the process image, and installation uses the standard terminal strip power and bus connections.
The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so the module is intended for mounting inside a closed control cabinet. Mechanical attachment is handled by a 35 mm DIN rail clip that snaps into standard industrial frames, and this allows the terminal to fit common control cabinet layouts. Sixteen terminal points accommodate the field conductors, and a separate output process image of 8 control bytes plus 8 data words allows the PLC to send configuration bits and calibration values. For diagnostics and cyclic sampling, the CPU reads the 8 status bytes + 8 data words in the input image so that temperature feedback remains synchronized across all channels.
