Product Description:
The KL3202-0028 analog input terminal is produced by Beckhoff as part of the KL Analog Input Modules series. Intended for temperature feedback loops in industrial plants, it accepts resistance temperature detectors and delivers their measured values to the K-bus for a PLC or IPC to read. By integrating the conversion electronics directly into a 12 mm-wide slice, the module saves panel space and eliminates the need for external transmitters. It provides a practical way to monitor bearing, tank, or ambient temperatures wherever precise electronic supervision is required.
Each channel digitizes the RTD signal with a 16-bit converter, so the controller receives 65,536 discrete steps. The terminal supports 2-wire and 3-wire connection schemes, allowing compensation leads when sensor distance requires higher accuracy. For process safety, it recognizes an open circuit and reports the fault in the bus data. The permissible sensing window extends from -40 °C to +128 °C, covering many industrial refrigeration and heating zones. Within that interval, the internal scaling provides a temperature resolution of 0.01 °C, allowing control algorithms to react to small deviations in setpoint. Conversion results are transferred as two 16-bit words in the process image, synchronized with the bus cycle and supplied through backplane power from the K-bus.
The module has 2 electrically isolated input channels and routes the field sensor returns through power contacts that can carry up to 10 A, allowing adjacent terminals with higher current demand to share the same feed. Its housing measures 12 × 100 × 68 mm and is made of polycarbonate that clips onto the DIN rail without tools. The design has an IP20 protection rating, making it suitable for installation inside enclosed control cabinets where only finger protection is required. Power for the terminal logic is drawn automatically from the K-bus, while two optional 8-bit status bytes allow the controller to access diagnostic flags and channel configuration without extra wiring.
