Product Description:
The KL3202-0027 is an analog input module manufactured by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. It captures variable resistances from field sensors and delivers corresponding digital words to the controller, letting automation programs track temperature coefficients, position potentiometers, or other ohmic transducers without extra signal conditioning. The terminal mounts next to other slices in a modular I/O station, providing resistive measurement capability inside compact control enclosures. Because it works directly with resistance-based inputs, the module can read passive sensing elements without separate transmitters or external conversion hardware. That makes it suitable for installations where cabinet space is limited but direct resistance measurement is still required.
Each channel features a resolution of 16-bit, giving fine granularity across the selected resistance span. Sensors are connected through a 2-wire or 3-wire scheme, which allows lead-wire compensation when three conductors are used. With 2 channels available, the module increases sensor density while using little terminal space. Electrical isolation between field circuitry and the internal bus is rated at 500 V, which helps reduce common-mode interference. The input circuitry operates only in resistance-only mode, so the conversion path is tailored to ohmic sources. This arrangement helps the controller receive more stable readings when cable resistance might otherwise affect the measurement. Open-circuit detection flags detached sensors, and a 100 ms timeout stops sampling if a stable value is not reached, preventing stale data from entering the process image.
The housing measures 12 × 100 × 68 mm and latches onto a 35 mm DIN rail, inheriting logic power from the K-Bus backplane. No front power contacts are provided, yet the internal bridge can carry up to 10 A to adjacent terminals for distribution across the station. Its ingress protection is rated at IP20, which suits installation inside closed electrical cabinets. The selectable measuring window extends from 10 Ω to 10,000 Ω, covering many industrial potentiometers, temperature-dependent resistors, and position sensors without external range adapters.
