Product Description:
The KL3202-0021 is an analog input terminal produced by Beckhoff and assigned to the KL Analog Input Modules series. It measures resistance temperature detector signals and forwards the converted data to a higher-level controller through the I/O system. In industrial automation, the module brings precise temperature monitoring directly onto a DIN rail, reducing field wiring between sensors and the CPU and allowing distributed acquisition of Pt100 probes inside machines and process lines. This arrangement helps place temperature measurement close to the sensing point, which supports stable signal handling in modular control cabinets.
This terminal samples two independent channels with a 16-bit converter, so each measurement is resolved into 65,536 discrete steps. Wiring can be completed with 2- or 3-wire sensor leads, and the default configuration uses the third conductor to compensate for lead resistance. The inputs accept signals from Pt100 resistance elements, and each increment represents 0.1 °C/digit, which supports fine measurement changes in temperature control tasks. A built-in open-circuit monitor flags broken probes, and the module sends process images in Siemens S5 format with a data width of 2 × 16 bits. Its enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so it is intended for installation inside protected cabinets rather than exposed washdown areas.
The terminal receives its logic and sensor excitation power via the K-bus, so no separate supply line is necessary when it is snapped alongside other Beckhoff terminals. Mechanical dimensions are compact at 12 mm in width, 68 mm in depth, and 100 mm in height, allowing dense packing next to digital and motion modules on the rail. Two input channels and open-circuit recognition are available without increasing the narrow housing width. The slim body also leaves room for adjacent wiring ducts and supports orderly routing of sensor conductors inside crowded control panels.
