The KL3202-0014 is a temperature-measuring analog input module manufactured by Beckhoff within the KL Analog Input Modules series. Designed for DIN-rail I/O stations, it acquires resistance data from Pt1000 sensors and forwards the converted temperature values to the higher-level controller through the K-bus power and data backplane. By integrating this module, automation systems obtain direct temperature feedback without separate signal conditioners, which helps reduce wiring and cabinet space while keeping signal processing inside the control environment. It is well suited to compact control stations where direct thermal feedback is needed for monitoring, interlocks, or closed-loop control.
The module digitizes each of its two input channels with a resolution of 16-bit, providing detailed temperature data to the controller. Field devices can be wired in 2-wire or 3-wire configurations, so the connection method can match the installation. Resulting values are encoded in two's complement, which allows the controller to distinguish negative and positive temperatures without extra scaling logic. For every bus cycle, the terminal supplies a process data block of 2 × 16-bit, which keeps variable mapping straightforward in TwinCAT and other IEC 61131-3 environments. Its housing follows protection class IP20, so it is intended for clean, cabinet-protected locations.
With physical dimensions of 12 × 100 × 68 mm, the terminal matches the width profile of neighboring Beckhoff slices and slides onto a 35 mm DIN rail without tools. The integrated front end is intended for a Pt1000 probe, so no external shunt or bridge is required at the measurement point. Internal scaling preserves a resolution of 0.1 °C/digit, which helps the controller respond to small thermal changes. The K-bus feed removes the need for individual power jumpers, and the built-in diagnostic bit can report a broken lead to the PLC for fault handling.
