Product Description:
The KL3201 input bus connector from Beckhoff is designed for the direct connection of resistance sensors. The product can be used in industrial robotics to obtain precise readings of temperature and resistance. Within Beckhoff's flexible I/O system, the bus connector can be set up using a Bus Coupler or a controller.
The KL3201 input bus connector can connect to two or three wires, but most people use the three-wire way. There are many kinds of sensors that can be connected to this input, such as the Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni100, Ni120, Ni1000, and resistance measure tools like potentiometers that range from 10 Ω to 1.2/5 kΩ. The temperature range for nickel plates is -60°C to +250°C, while platinum plates can measure temperatures from -200°C to +850°C. The process graphic displays the input as 1 x 16-bit data. If necessary, an 8-bit control or status can be incorporated. A bus terminal device that detects open circuits assists in the identification of sensor faults. The signal voltage and the K-bus are kept electrically separated by up to 500 V, and the device usually takes 60 mA of current from the K-bus side.
The KL3201 input bus connector can work in temperatures from 0 to 55°C and be stored in temperatures from -25°C to +85°C without losing its functionality. At 95% relative humidity, the end does not form condensation. It meets the requirements for EMC and resistance to shaking and shock according to EN 61000-6-2, EN 61000-6-4, EN 60068-2-6, and EN 60068-2-27 Standards. Weighing about 70 grams, the bus port can be mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail. The bus terminal facilitates maintenance and diagnostics by displaying the operational state and sensor faults, in addition to run and error LEDs.
Frequently Asked Questions about KL3201:
Q: Does KL3201 require address setting during installation?
A: The bus terminal does not require manual address setting. Configuration is managed automatically via the Bus Coupler or controller, simplifying system integration.
Q: How does KL3201 recognize open-circuit conditions?
A: The bus terminal includes open-circuit recognition to detect sensor disconnection or wiring faults. This feature provides immediate feedback for maintenance actions.
Q: Why is the conversion time of KL3201 set at 200 ms?
A: A 200 ms conversion time balances measurement speed and accuracy. The Bus terminal ensures stable and reliable readings for temperature and resistance sensors.
Q: Does KL3201 provide electrical isolation for safety?
A: The bus terminal offers 500V electrical isolation between the K-bus and signal voltage. This protects both the device and connected systems from electrical faults.
Q: How does KL3201 handle high-humidity environments?
A: The bus terminal operates reliably at up to 95% relative humidity with no condensation. This ensures stable performance in various installation conditions.
