Product Description:
The KL3062 is a compact analog input module from Beckhoff that belongs to the KL Analog Input Modules series. It is installed in a Bus Terminal stack, where it converts field-level voltage signals into digital data that a PLC can process, allowing accurate monitoring of process sensors and transducers in industrial automation systems. By accepting standard 0–10 V signals, the module connects electrical instrumentation on the machine to the EtherCAT or PROFIBUS controller that supervises the overall application.
This module provides 2 independent voltage channels, so two separate measurement points can be acquired within the same 12 mm housing. Each channel is wired in a single-ended configuration; the sensor negative is referenced to the terminal’s common potential, simplifying field wiring for short cable runs. Electrical separation between the K-bus logic and the field interface is rated at 500 V, helping protect upstream electronics from potential transients. The permissible input span is 0–10 V, matching the common control signal range used by industrial transmitters and signal conditioners. Internally, conversion is performed with a resolution of 12-bit, which provides 4,096 discrete steps and yields a nominal granularity of 2.44 mV across the full scale.
Status information is returned over the backplane in a packed word that uses 2 × 8-bit control bytes, enabling the controller to evaluate overrange flags or diagnostic bits for each channel. The actual measurement values occupy 2 × 16-bit process data words, allowing the full 12-bit payload and associated marker bits to be transferred without loss. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, which protects against accidental finger contact but does not provide protection from liquids, so the module is intended for installation inside a cabinet. The unit processes only analog voltage signals and draws its operating power directly from the K-bus, eliminating the need for a dedicated supply line.
