Product Description:
The KL3052-0012 is a two-channel analog input terminal produced by Beckhoff within the KL Analog Input Modules series. Designed for DIN-rail systems built to EN 60715, it brings 4–20 mA sensor signals into the I/O environment. The polycarbonate housing and IP20 protection rating suit installation inside control cabinets where touch protection is needed. By converting loop current values into digital words, the terminal allows the controller to monitor process variables such as pressure or flow with minimal wiring overhead.
Each of the two input channels is sampled with a 12-bit converter, giving 4096 quantization steps for the measured current. The measured data are placed in the process image as 2 × 16-bit data, so the PLC can read value and status bits in one cycle. Physical space on the rail is limited to 12 × 100 × 68 mm, which helps keep narrow cabinets tidy. Power for the module electronics is supplied through the backplane using 24 V DC via power contacts, eliminating separate wiring. The input uses an internal burden of 80 Ω with a 0.7 V diode drop, so standard transmitters can drive the terminal without exceeding compliance voltage. The module has an input count of 2, so one terminal can handle redundant or dual-loop measurements on compact machines.
Current loops must stay within the permitted range, and the terminal flags out-of-range conditions. It accepts measurement down to 3.5 mA for live-zero detection and will saturate only when the line exceeds 21.5 mA. Transient protection withstands surges up to 35 V without damage to the front-end circuitry. Upstream fuses can therefore be sized for the field devices rather than the module. The power contacts can carry auxiliary loads of 10 A, allowing adjacent terminals on the same rail segment to draw actuator power without extra feeds. All conductive parts are enclosed within the housing, and the controller receives terminal data every cycle through the process image.
