The Kl3012 by Beckhoff belongs to the Kl Analog Input Series. This bus terminal is created with accurate measurement and control in mind for automation systems. The Kl3012 offers two inputs that can be extended up to the maximum signal currents of 0 and 20 mA so that it is flexible enough as a bus terminal for current input-based applications. The power supply is taken from the K-bus, and in this way, it can be easily integrated into the automation system architecture provided by Beckhoff. The resistance of the terminal is internal, and it is >>80 Ω + diode voltage of 0.7 V, so the current through will be measured quite accurately.

With a conversion time of approximately 2 ms, the KL3012 module provides fast data processing. Its 12-bit resolution ensures that the signal being sensed is interpreted accurately; even the most challenging measurement conditions mean that the module provides a measurement error/uncertainty of less than ±0.3% relative to full scale value. A surge voltage up to 35 V DC at the terminal also safeguards it from an unexpected voltage spike. Its power consumption from the K-bus is existing as typical 60 mA, so it is a very good power-conscious circuit. The bit width in the process image is formed as 2 x 16-bit data; and there is an option for 2 x 8-bit control/status.

The KL3012 has mass about 70 g and is a compact and powerful module. The module shows vigorous resistance to vibration and shocks as outlined by EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27. The electromagnetic compatibility of the module can be guaranteed through EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 to provide high immunity and low emission quality so that it can be applied to perform different types of automation tasks.
