Product Description:
The KL3002-0050 is an analog input module produced by Beckhoff in the KL Analog Input Modules series. It digitizes low-level process voltages for EtherCAT or Bus Terminal-based control systems, providing differential conversion so field sensors remain isolated from control electronics. In distributed automation, the module occupies one terminal position and relays each channel’s sampled data to the controller through the internal K-Bus power and communication backbone. This arrangement is useful when analog values must be captured close to the sensor and passed to a central controller without adding a separate signal-conditioning device.
This terminal accepts bipolar voltage signals up to ±10 V on each channel, and both channels are wired as differential pairs to reduce ground loops. There are 2 inputs, allowing simultaneous acquisition of two isolated sources in a single housing. A conversion depth of 12 bit yields 4096 discrete steps, which supports consistent scaling of small signal changes. The terminal’s maximum measurement deviation is limited to ±0.30% full scale, supporting closed-loop tasks that require tight linearity. With an input impedance of more than 200 kΩ, the module places negligible load on high-impedance sensors while preserving signal fidelity. Sampled data are transferred to the controller as a process image width of 2 × 16 bit, matching the channel count and leaving headroom for status flags. This makes it easier to move raw analog values into the control program for filtering, comparison, or alarm handling.
The circuitry tolerates a common-mode potential of 35 V max, helping the bus segment withstand moderate field offsets between connected devices. The housing is rated IP20, so it is intended for cabinet-mounted installation where finger protection is sufficient. The plastic housing is 100 mm tall, with a depth of 68 mm and a width of 12 mm, which helps conserve space on crowded terminal rows. Fast installation is achieved with a 35 mm DIN rail clip, and the module draws its logic supply exclusively from the K-Bus, eliminating separate 24 V wiring. Its narrow profile fits well beside digital terminals, couplers, and power feed modules in compact control cabinets.
