The Beckhoff KL2889-0000 is a highly developed, energy-efficient and compact analog module. It is designed to handle 16 output signals. As part of the KL Analog Input Modules series, it operates using a 1-wire interface. This streamlined setup is especially useful in large systems where multiple sensors or modules are needed. Each device on a 1-Wire network has a unique 64-bit ID, allowing for easy identification and communication with multiple devices. This module can be powered either by a battery or a power supply with a nominal voltage of 24 V DC. It handles loads including corrective resistive, inductive and lamp loads and thus serves many applications in automation and control loop systems.

Another feature of the KL2889-0000 is the short-circuit proof performance, which is due to the presence of microcontrollers to protect it from even minor electrical issues. The maximum current that each module can supply is 0.5 A, and its short-circuit current is below 7 A. It also has reverse voltage protection to avoid any issues if the power supply is connected in the wrong way. The breaking energy per channel is set to be lower than 100 mJ, which helps in the protection of the module and the connected equipment.

This module has low power consumption and it works with an operating current of 35 mA via power contacts and 45 mA via K-bus. It also has a bit width of 16 outputs in the process image of the microcontroller that enables ease of communication with the control system.
