Beckhoff International’s KL2761 is a universal dimmer terminal manufactured for automation systems. As a dimmer terminal, this device can effectively power and monitor various types of AC lamp loads. Specifically, the KL2761 supports capacitive, inductive, or purely resistive AC lamp loads with a maximum power rating of 600 watts or VA. During operation, this dimmer terminal can perform phase control angle corrections and rudimentary data processing. Similar to other AC dimmer terminals manufactured by Beckhoff, the KL2761 employs automatic load detection and fault protection. As mentioned in the KL2761’s datasheet, the device offers protection against short circuit and overload fault conditions.
To operate properly, the KL2761 must be connected to a mains supply having a terminal AC voltage of 230 V. During operation, the terminal can draw a maximum current of 2.7 A. Since the dimmer terminal is designed for AC lamp loads, heavy AC loads such as motors must not be used. There is also a limitation on the type of loads that you can connect to the dimmer terminal. As mentioned earlier, the KL2761 can accommodate both inductive and capacitive loads. The device, however, must not be used with mixed loads containing inductive and capacitive inputs at the same time.
The KL2761 has a maximum resolution of 7 bits, making it ideal for general automation systems. At most, this electrical module can be used alongside a lamp cable having a length of 100 meters. Like other dimmer terminals by Beckhoff, the KL2761 supports trailing-edge phase control, rectifier mode, and leading-edge phase control. To maintain the integrity of this product, the ambient temperature range during operation must not exceed the range of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius.
