Product Description:
The KL2751 Universal Dimmer is a product of Beckhoff KL Analog Input Modules family products. The product serves high quality automation requirements and system control operations.
The KL2751 universal dimmer has a leakage current less than 2 milli amperes which means if the module is switched off a small current might flow. It is built to handle very humid environments, but condensation must be avoided to prevent short circuits or corrosion. The wiring distance from the dimmer to the controlled lighting load must not exceed 100 meters. The module behavior can be set or adjusted through the fieldbus system using a bus coupler or central controller. The dimmer sends a 16-bit value (like brightness level) and an 8-bit status (like fault or mode) back to the PLC/controller. It can survive (while not operating) in a wide temperature range from -25 °C ... + 85 °C which makes it suitable for varied storage conditions. The amount of current the terminal draws from the internal bus for logic and communication functions is 95 milli amperes. Its dimming level is controlled with a resolution of up to 7 bits which allows 128 discrete brightness levels (0–127).
The KL2751 universal dimmer is IP 20 rated which means it is protected from large solid objects but must be installed in an enclosure or cabinet for safety. It is able to support multiple phase control techniques, which allow compatibility with various load types. It has been tested to withstand mechanical vibration and shock. It has 500 V (K-bus / field voltage) and 3750 VAC (1 min.) electrical isolation which protects internal circuits and bus systems from high voltages on the output side.
Frequently Asked Questions about KL2751:
Q: Why is automatic load detection important in the KL2751 universal dimmer?
A: Automatic load detection in the KL2751 ensures optimal dimming mode selection for each load type. This prevents damage and improves compatibility with various lighting technologies.
Q: How does the phase control type benefit lighting applications?
A: Leading and trailing edge control in the KL2751 offers precise dimming for resistive and capacitive loads. This enhances flicker-free lighting and broad lamp compatibility.
Q: What is the role of 3750 VAC electrical isolation in the KL2751?
A: The KL2751 universal dimmer uses 3750 VAC isolation to prevent voltage transfer to the K-bus. It improves system safety and reduces electrical noise.
Q: Why is IP20 protection important for the KL2751 dimmer installation?
A: IP20 indicates that the KL2751 is protected against solid objects larger than 12 mm. It must be mounted inside an enclosure to ensure safety from touch and dust.
Q: What does the 95 mA K-bus consumption imply for system designers using KL2751?
A: Designers must ensure the power supply can support 95 mA per KL2751 unit. This affects the total number of modules that can be installed on a segment.
