Product Description:
The KL2442 terminal is produced by Beckhoff and is used as a two-channel output module in industrial automation systems. The module converts control commands from the fieldbus coupler into switching signals for external loads, allowing decentralized actuation within a control system. It attaches to adjacent slice-style terminals over the integrated K-bus and is intended for DIN rail mounting inside a control cabinet. This arrangement lets switching functions be placed close to the rest of the terminal stack without requiring a separate output assembly elsewhere in the panel.
Supplied through the power contacts, the terminal operates on 24 V DC, matching common control voltages in machine panels. Each of the two channels can switch up to 4.0 A per channel, so individual solenoid valves or indicator lamps receive sufficient current without external relays. When both channels are active at the same time, the permissible combined current is 8 A, while the upstream power contacts can carry up to 10 A, so the terminal can pass load current through a larger I/O group. The short-circuit current stays below 70 A, and reverse-polarity protection helps protect the supply path during wiring faults. Communication with the controller draws only 9 mA from the K-bus, and in the cyclic process image the terminal occupies 2 outputs. This keeps bus-side power demand low while preserving direct control of both switched channels.
The housing is only 12 mm wide and 100 mm high, so the terminal fits easily into dense terminal stacks on a DIN rail. Its depth is 68 mm, which keeps the module suitable for shallow control enclosures as well as standard cabinets. Screwless push-in terminals use a 3-wire connection method, allowing supply, load, and ground conductors to terminate on one slice for ohmic, inductive, or lamp loads. The housing is rated IP20, which provides finger-safe protection for installation inside an enclosed panel.
