Product Description:
The KL2134 is an output terminal manufactured by Beckhoff for use in modular I/O assemblies. The device accepts logic-level commands from the bus coupler and switches external loads through transistor stages, letting a controller actuate field equipment directly from the same rail-mounted stack. By concentrating multiple channels in one narrow housing, it helps designers keep enclosure width to a minimum while still providing isolated outputs suited for diverse automation tasks.
The terminal operates from a nominal supply of 24 V DC, and each channel can source up to 0.5 A to ohmic, inductive, or lamp loads without derating. Internally, power is routed through a common contact that withstands a continuous current of 10 A, so the aggregate demand of all channels can be supplied through the backplane. If a load fault occurs, the output stage limits the short-circuit current to less than 2 A, protecting both wiring and upstream fuses. All of this circuitry is contained in a housing that measures 12 × 100 × 68 mm and is molded from polycarbonate for electrical insulation and mechanical strength. The module clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail, providing quick removal during service.
Field wiring is landed on spring terminals that support 2-wire or 3-wire configurations, letting the designer choose between shared or individual return conductors. The unit presents 4 outputs to the controller's process image, so one byte addresses the complete channel set without extra mapping. During switch-off events, the energy discharged by an inductive load is kept below 150 mJ per channel, which protects the output transistor and adjacent modules. An enclosure rating of IP20 provides finger-safe access when the terminal is mounted inside a shielded control cabinet, and reverse polarity protection is included to avert damage from wiring errors.
