The KL2022-0000 is a two-channel digital output terminal produced by Beckhoff as part of the KL Analog Input Modules series. Despite the series designation, this model functions as an output module that switches 24 V DC actuators directly from the K-bus of a Bus Terminal I/O system. It occupies a single terminal width and is intended to supply field-level loads in PLC-controlled machinery, providing compact signal distribution on the control cabinet rail.
Each of the two outputs is referenced to the internal power contacts that accept a nominal supply of 24 V DC. The channel can deliver up to 2.0 A/Channel, enabling direct driving of ohmic, inductive, or lamp loads without external relays. Connection is realized through a 4-Wire scheme that separates power and signal conductors for clearer wiring. For trunk power distribution the module routes a continuous bus current of 10 A across its power contacts, while the front side switching transistor is protected to IP20 enclosure standards; the polycarbonate housing therefore matches the protection class required for closed control cabinets. Two bits in the process image correspond to the dual outputs, allowing deterministic state updates every bus cycle.
The electronic section draws a typical 5 mA from the K-bus, so the terminal adds minimal overhead to the bus coupler supply. In fault situations the driver limits short-circuit current to < 70 A and absorbs the resulting inductive energy up to < 1.7 J/Channel, preventing damage to upstream wiring. Mechanical integration is simple because the polycarbonate housing clips onto a 35 mm DIN Rail and may be mounted in any position, which frees designers to arrange terminals for optimal cabinet airflow. Additional current consumed by the field side is typ. 20 mA plus the connected load, and the variable installation position does not affect thermal ratings.
