Product Description:
The KL1712-0060 two-channel input terminal is produced by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. Serving as a plug-in slice in a DIN-rail Bus Terminal system, it acquires field signals and forwards processed values to a host controller. By integrating signal-conditioning electronics with the wiring interface, the unit streamlines decentralized measurement tasks in industrial automation. It supports machine tools, packaging lines, and process skids that rely on continuous sensor feedback while keeping cabinet layouts compact and serviceable.
The terminal operates from a nominal supply of 60 VDC, allowing it to power compatible low-voltage transducers without an auxiliary power block. It provides 2 independent input channels, each routed through spring-cage contacts. Its 4-wire connection technology accommodates separate power, return, and sense leads, helping maintain measurement accuracy across long cable runs. A hardware input filter of 10 ms suppresses contact bounce and electrical noise, and the same delay establishes the maximum switching response for each channel. The terminal has an IP20 enclosure, which protects internal components against contact with fingers and similarly sized solid objects but does not provide protection against water. The narrow housing conserves panel width for additional terminals and associated wiring.
For alignment with adjacent Bus Terminals, the front profile has a width of 12 mm. The enclosure has a depth of 70 mm and a height of 100 mm, allowing it to fit in shallow control enclosures while leaving room for field wiring. Within the control program, the device occupies 2 input bits, allowing each channel to map directly to a Boolean variable while minimizing scan overhead. The variable installation position allows the terminal to be mounted horizontally beside compact controllers or vertically beneath cable ducts without derating. Support for AC or DC sensors expands the range of field devices that can use the same wiring arrangement. The spring-cage contacts also help maintain secure conductor connections where machinery is exposed to routine vibration.
