Product Description:
The KL1712 is an analog input terminal produced by Beckhoff within the KL Analog Input Modules series. Designed for decentralized control systems, the component plugs into a Bus Terminal stack and forwards measured voltages to higher-level PLCs over the K-bus backplane. The module brings plant-floor transducer data directly into the controller without external signal conditioning, thereby reducing wiring density and panel space requirements. In typical industrial automation cells, it occupies one node on the fieldbus rack and supports synchronized acquisition alongside neighboring digital, motion, or safety terminals.
Each channel uses 4-wire connection technology, allowing separate sense leads to compensate for line resistance and improve measurement accuracy. The terminal accepts 2 analog inputs and transfers these values to the controller every 10 ms, a switching time appropriate for temperature or slow-moving process variables. The fresh data consumes 2 input bits within the process image, so only a minimal area of PLC memory is reserved for status flags. The housing has an IP20 rating and is intended for cabinets where protection against touch and small foreign objects is sufficient. Two signal LEDs on the front indicate module diagnostics and power status without requiring software tools.
The enclosure measures 15 mm in width, extends 70 mm in depth, and reaches 100 mm in height, allowing placement in a densely packed I/O row without obstructing airflow. The terminal provides 8 connection points for field wiring and supply contacts, supporting an orderly connection arrangement within the narrow housing. Its variable installation position allows the unit to be oriented horizontally or vertically to accommodate different cabinet layouts and cable-routing requirements. The slim enclosure and pluggable contacts also permit access to the terminal without requiring changes to the surrounding Bus Terminal configuration.
