The KL1702 is a digital AC input terminal produced by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. As a modular slice, it plugs into the Bus Terminal system and forwards two discrete voltage signals from field devices to the higher-level controller. The terminal detects 120 VAC or 230 VAC status changes from devices such as limit switches or auxiliary contacts. It then places those states in the controller’s process image for deterministic logic execution in industrial automation systems.

The module accepts a nominal supply of 120 VAC or 230 VAC, so it can be wired directly to standard single-phase mains power without a step-down transformer. It provides 2 separate input channels, each drawing only 6 mA to minimize loading on upstream sensor contacts.
