The KL1382 is a digital input module with dual channels. It is intended for monitoring PTC thermistors and safeguarding thermal machinery. It is produced by Beckhoff. It functions efficiently at a nominal voltage of 24 V DC.
The Beckhoff KL1382 uses two-wire connection to process input signals. This is a part of KL Analog Input Modules series. It can handle a sensor voltage of less than or equal to 5 V. The input filter in it has a standard filtering time of 30 milliseconds. It provides pluggable wiring on all KSxxxx Bus Terminal configurations. During working the K-bus system consumes around 60 mA of current. It allows for direct monitoring of motors, bearings and plant equipment using thermistor sensors. It detects the "0" signal voltage at resistance values of 1.5 kΩ or less. It accurately detects the "1" signal voltage when resistance reaches 3 kΩ. To enable rapid monitoring the "0" signal is released under 1.5 kΩ. Above the 3 kΩ threshold the signal "1" for excess temperature can be successfully recognized. KL1382 detects open circuits over 8 kΩ and short circuits under 25 Ω easily. EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 requirements are fulfilled for EMC immunity and emissions. It allows for a screwdriver actuation for convenience of operation while allowing spring actuation wiring. The wiring securely holds solid, flexible and ferrule conductors during installation.
The Beckhoff KL1382 has a small housing constructed of sturdy polycarbonate material. It can be used to handle a current load of 10 A on power contacts. For KL-12-8pin and KS-12-8pin versions, the length of the stripping is 8-9 mm and 9-10 mm respectively. The installation in the field is done by a double slot and key connection. Based on wiring type the connection cross section is 0.08 mm² to 2.5 mm². This module can support solid and flexible conductors ranging from AWG28 to AWG14.
