Product Description:
The KL1104-0018 is a four-channel input terminal produced by Beckhoff for Bus Terminal systems. Installed on a 35 mm DIN rail beside other Bus Terminals, it conveys field signals to the central controller through the internal K-bus. In a typical automation cell, the unit converts 24 V DC sensor states into a process image that the PLC can evaluate. It is intended for reading switching signals rather than variable analog values.
Inside the housing, the module operates from a field supply of 24 V DC. Each of its 4 inputs draws only 5 mA and is shaped by a front-end filter with a mean response of 3 ms. The input circuit follows the requirements of EN 61131-2 Type 1, meaning it recognizes the standard high level while tolerating normal wiring disturbances. A 2-/3-wire connection scheme lets sensor power be shared through the upper rows of contacts, which helps reduce terminal count in the cabinet. Once scanned, the terminal contributes a process image width of four bits to the controller, so channel states appear in consecutive addresses without additional mapping effort. The pluggable body slides on the same 35 mm rail that supports power distribution across the Bus Coupler.
Thermal and electrical loading are handled through the power contacts that carry up to 10 A, so field power can pass through adjacent terminals without extra feed modules. Only 5 mA of K-bus current is needed for internal logic, which helps larger terminal rows stay within coupler limits. The compact outline of 12 x 100 x 68 mm allows dense stacking, and the translucent Polycarbonate housing allows a quick visual check of status LEDs while resisting typical cabinet chemicals. With a protection category of IP20, the device is intended for closed control panels where solid object ingress is restricted and no direct spray is present.
