The Beckhoff FC5201-0000 is a DeviceNet interface card from the FC Lightbus Card Series designed as a PCI device to link a PC to a Device Net fieldbus network. In fact, this card supports multiple rates of data transmission, with 125, 250, and 500 kbaud being achieved, and is therefore effective in industrial processes that require the transmission of data in a quick and accurate manner. This card also incorporates one fieldbus channel and a Device Net compatible 5-pin connector, which is of an open type. Its primary function is a communication interface and it is isolation type ensuring that communication remains constant without outside influence which is often a problem in such industrial set ups where noise is dominant. This adaptor can be fitted on industrial apparatus even at extreme conditions.

Able to function as both a master device and bus terminator, the FC5201-0000 supports multiple network arrangements, permitting the initiation of or response to DeviceNet networks. This card also comes with hardware diagnostic features whereby the channels have 2 LEDs each for status indication. Even more useful, one of such a versatility comes in the form of a switchable termination resistor. It is also worth noting that the card is capable of supporting up to 3 kbytes of input and output data per channel which leads to a faster processing in the automation processes.

All of the DeviceNet I/O modes including polling, change of state and cyclic and strobed are supported by the FC5201-0000. Devices also comes with advanced functions such as out of connection messaging through Unconnected Message Manager UCMM, Device Heartbeat and Shutdown Messages that ensures that total health and fault management of the network is achievable.
