Product Description:
The FC3102-1258 is made by Beckhoff, a well-known company that makes solutions for industrial automation. It is a PROFIBUS master/slave card that makes it easier and more reliable to link to a fieldbus. The setup and diagnostics process functions reliably, allowing seamless integration with PC-based control and management tools.
The FC3102-1258 PROFIBUS master/slave card has two PROFIBUS lines that can be used as either a master or a slave. The product supports numerous PROFIBUS protocols, including DP (the default), DP-V1 (Class 1 and 2 for acyclic services and alarms), DP-V2, and PROFIBUS MC, which allows devices that are equally far apart to communicate with each other. DP cycle time can be different for each slave because the card uses CDL. Input, output, parameter, setup, or diagnostic data can take up to 244 bytes on each sub. Two sets of three-kbyte input and output data can be sent to and received by the process picture. The PCI port allows effortless installation on standard PCs, and the card features 32 kilobytes of NOVRAM for data storage that remains powered. Bus links use two D-sub 9-pin sockets that are separated by galvanic current. For easier hardware debugging, there are two LEDs on each channel. Standard drivers for various Windows versions, DLLs, ActiveX interfaces, and an OPC server can all be used to get to process data and settings.
The FC3102-1258 PROFIBUS master/slave card can operate at temperatures ranging from 0°C to 55°C and can be configured in a variety of ways. Through the PCI line, the card rarely needs more than 5 W of power. EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27 say that it can handle shaking and shock. In terms of EMC safety and emissions, it meets EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4. The thing is about 106 mm x 175 mm and weighs 45 to 75 g.
Frequently Asked Questions about FC3102-1258:
Q: Why does FC3102-1258 support two fieldbus channels?
A: Slave card supports two channels that enable simultaneous master and slave operation for increased communication flexibility and redundancy.
Q: Does FC3102-1258 provide galvanic isolation for bus interfaces?
A: Yes, the slave card features two galvanically decoupled D-sub 9-pin sockets that enhance signal integrity and protect against ground loops.
Q: How does FC3102-1258 handle differing DP cycle times?
A: The CDL concept in the slave card allows each slave to operate with a unique DP cycle time that optimizes network performance.
Q: Why is NOVRAM included in FC3102-1258?
A: Slave card includes 32 kbytes of NOVRAM that ensures non-volatile storage of critical data and configuration parameters.
Q: Do FC3102-1258 drivers support multiple Windows versions?
A: Yes, the slave card provides general drivers that support different Windows versions, configuration tools, DLLs, and ActiveX interfaces.
