Product Description:
The FB1111-0142 piggyback controller board is manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the FB Piggyback Controllers series. It mounts directly on a system motherboard and provides fieldbus-ready I/O so compact machines, test rigs, and measurement fixtures can add EtherCAT communication without a separate stack of remote terminals. In an automation node, the board transfers process data between the host processor and distributed sensors or actuators while using only the space of a small daughtercard. This layout keeps signal paths short between the host and the fieldbus interface, which supports fast data exchange in embedded control assemblies.
The module accepts a typical board supply of 5.0 V, and its on-card regulator can source up to 100 mA on the 3.3 V rail for external logic pins. Its programmable I/O bank operates at 3.3 V and provides 32 digital channels through a 52-signal parallel PDI interface to the carrier board. A Beckhoff ET1100 slave controller manages two EtherCAT ports in a logical line topology, with each port presented on a standard RJ45 connector. Four status LEDs provide quick feedback on link state and module activity, and a designated 2.5 V test pad allows direct probing of the controller core during startup checks. Because the EtherCAT interface is integrated on the board, the host system can exchange cyclic control data with remote I/O, drives, or measurement devices through the same compact assembly.
The assembly is rated for ambient temperatures from -40 °C up to 70 °C during operation, allowing use in demanding industrial or outdoor conditions. It can be stored between -65 °C and 105 °C before installation or between operating cycles. Mechanical retention to the host PCB is handled by M3×6 DIN-7985 screws, which help keep the stacked connection secure under vibration and repeated movement. This mounting method also helps maintain stable contact pressure at the board interface during transport and normal machine operation.
