Product Description:
Beckhoff part EL9800 controller finds its applications in systems where real-time communication with EtherCAT devices is required. The firm focuses on producing top-notch motors, drives and sensors for use in many kinds of industrial automation.
The EL9800 controller is a TwinCAT EtherCAT Master board that powers on at a 24 V DC supply connected to terminal J200. The 24V input serves as the primary source from which internal voltage levels of 12V, 5V, and 3.3V are generated through onboard DC-DC converters. These secondary voltage outputs are routed to header J1203 by making them directly accessible for external circuits that require regulated supply levels. The board provides visual status indication for the 3.3V and 5V outputs using two onboard LEDs by allowing quick verification of voltage presence and converter operation without the need for extra measurement equipment. The board is compatible with the HI-TECH PICC-18 STD compiler for software development by supporting code generation for Microchip PIC18 microcontrollers. Debugging and programming are facilitated through the MPLAB ICD2 Debugger driver by permitting hardware-level interaction for firmware testing and loading. It works by using the MPLAB 8 integrated environment along with the Microchip XC16 compiler.
The EL9800 controller’s toolchain enables coding and debugging of 16-bit PIC microcontrollers by using the same MPLAB ICD2 Debugger driver for target communication. It offers a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) header with specific pin assignments. Pin 1 is allocated to SPI_CLK_IN by providing a clock input for SPI communication. Pin 2 carries the EEPROM_LOADED signal. Pin 5 is SPI_DIN used for data input while pin 7 is SPI_DOUT for data output. Pin 8 is assigned to SPI_SEL for slave device selection and pin 9 provides SPI_INTERRUPT functionality for signaling data availability or transaction completion.
