Product Description:
The ES9186 is a digital output EtherCAT terminal manufactured by Beckhoff and supplied through the ES EtherCAT Terminals series. It attaches to neighboring slices to form decentralized I/O stations and allows a PLC to energize field devices directly from the backplane signal bus. Within automated machinery, the terminal shortens wiring runs, concentrates diagnostics at the controller, and fits the modular design of EtherCAT-based control cabinets. Its compact format allows control components to be arranged efficiently while retaining direct access to field connections.
The enclosure measures only 12 × 100 × 68 mm, while a front width of 12 mm leaves room for dense side-by-side assembly. Mounting takes place on a 35 mm DIN rail in accordance with EN 60715. The pluggable wiring level allows conductors to be disconnected without disturbing the rail layout or adjacent terminal slices. Beckhoff molds the housing from polycarbonate, a material that provides electrical insulation and dimensional stability at typical control cabinet temperatures. Signal and supply lines are rated for up to 60 V DC / 30 V AC, keeping the device within the SELV range for machine-control voltages. Coded connectors lock onto the top edge instead of using fixed screw terminals, which reduces setup time and helps prevent reversed polarity during wiring.
Current carried by the internal copper bars can reach 10 A through the power-contact plane, allowing the module to feed downstream terminals without separate feeder blocks. The output layer provides 8 outputs that switch 24 V loads, while 8 additional power contacts route the 0 V and 24 V supply lines forward. This arrangement separates switched output connections from the supply distribution points while retaining a narrow terminal profile. Mechanical tolerances permit side-by-side mounting on the left when no protective earth conductor is present, preserving the full current path across adjoining modules. The pluggable conductors remain accessible from the front, so servicing one connection does not require the complete I/O bank to be uncoupled from the DIN rail.
