The ES3602 is a modular input terminal produced by Beckhoff within the ES EtherCAT Terminals series. Designed for installation on a distributed EtherCAT I/O strand, the product converts external analog voltages into digital data for PLC-based control tasks in industrial automation. Its input circuit is differential, which improves noise rejection when cables run alongside switching power lines. By linking directly to the E-bus, the unit eliminates local power wiring and supports compact signal acquisition close to sensors or test points on a machine, which helps reduce long analog cable runs inside the cabinet.
The terminal samples each channel with a 24-bit converter, allowing detection of fine voltage changes across the selectable range of ±10/±5/±2.5/±1.25 V. Before digitization, the front end passes through a 3 kHz low-pass filter; this cutoff attenuates out-of-band noise while preserving relevant signal content. The processor completes a conversion cycle every 20 ms, and the multiplex architecture alternates between the two inputs without missing intervals. Overall accuracy is limited to < ±0.01 %, supporting precise measurement loops that feed closed-loop controllers. A footprint of 12 x 100 x 68 mm permits dense packing on DIN-rail assemblies and leaves more cabinet space available for power electronics and control processors.
