Product Description:

Beckhoff offers advanced automation solutions for industrial applications. The ES3142 EtherCAT Terminal is engineered for precise signal handling. These terminals support pluggable wiring for all ES series models. The housing is built from durable polycarbonate for reliable operation. Installation is done on a 35 mm DIN rail with a secure lock. The wiring method uses spring actuation operated by a screwdriver.

The ES3142 EtherCAT Terminal has a double slot and key connections ensure safe side-by-side mounting. Electrical isolation between the E-bus and signal voltage is rated at 500 V. The terminal supports a maximum dielectric strength of 30 V. This terminal provides two single-ended analog current inputs. It has a current range up to 20 mA and a resolution of 16 bits. It has a typical conversion time is around 60 µs and 40 µs in fast mode. An input filter is built in with a limit frequency of 5 kHz. Activatable FIR and IIR filters enhance signal accuracy. Limit value monitoring is included for process safety. The process image is available in both standard and compact formats. Input data occupies 8 bytes in the process image. Distributed clocks are supported with precision better than 1 µs. The terminal also conforms to EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27 for shock and vibration.

The ES3142 EtherCAT Terminalhas an internal resistance of 85 Ω plus diode voltage drop. Power contacts support a current load up to 10 A. The EtherCAT terminal consumes approximately 170 mA from the E-bus. Its weight is about 60 g for easy handling and installation. This EtherCAT terminal has dimensions of 12 x 100 x 68 mm. The marking area is compatible with BZ series labeling. The protection class is rated at IP20 with a flexible installation position.

Frequently Asked Questions about ES3142:

Q: Why are FIR and IIR filters integrated in the ES3142?

A: These filters help suppress noise and improve signal accuracy during analog-to-digital conversion, especially in environments with fluctuating input signals.

Q: How does the 85 Ω internal resistance impact signal measurement?

A: It helps maintain signal stability and compatibility with standard current loop sensors without excessive voltage drops.

Q: Why is diode voltage drop mentioned along with internal resistance in ES3142?

A: The diode drop adds an extra layer of protection by preventing reverse current flow, enhancing circuit integrity.

Q: What’s the benefit of using spring-actuated wiring with a screwdriver for ES3142?

A: It ensures secure and vibration-resistant connections, crucial for long-term reliability in high-vibration industrial settings.

Q: How does electrical isolation at 500 V enhance ES3142's safety?

A: It prevents interference between the signal voltage and communication system (E-bus), protecting sensitive electronics from electrical surges.
