Beckhoff’s ES EtherCAT Terminal Series features the ES2008 as a compact solution for improving the output of control systems. This terminal works on a 1-wire connection and has eight outputs thus being a very suitable industrial terminal.

The ES2008 can provide one output for each card and each output can accept a nominal voltage of 24V DC with an allowable voltage variation of -15% and + 20% to meet the requirements of various applications. The outputs are generalized, and they work with ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads to ensure that they meet the electrical needs of many users. The maximum current is 0.5A per channel and these channels are short-circuit protected to make the system more reliable and safe. Other protective functions are reverse voltage protection and the breaking energy not exceeding 150mJ per channel to provide for the industrial endurance of the terminal. The switching times are also relatively fast with an average TON of 60 µs and an average TOFF of 300 µs enabling effective action within control loops. The current consumption from the E-bus is 110 mA while from the power contacts, it is 15 mA plus the load which reflects the high-power management efficiency of this terminal.

The bit width in the process image for the terminal is also 8 outputs, which means that integration and management within a control system is easier. Operating and storing temperatures vary from -25°C to +60°C and from -40°C to +85°C accordingly, making it work reliably in harsh conditions. The ES2008 also meets EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27 standards for vibration and shock; and EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4 for EMC immunity and emission, proving it can operate reliably in harsh industrial conditions.
