Product Description:
The ES1008 EtherCAT Terminal is an 8 channel digital input module from Beckhoff. It reads 24 V DC binary signals and transmits them electrically isolated to higher level systems.
The ES1008 EtherCAT terminal supports connection via 1 wire technology and complies with EN 61131-2 type 1/3. It has eight digital input channels each supporting a typical input current of 3 mA. The module operates with a nominal voltage of 24 V DC and accepts “1” signal voltage between 11 to 30 V and “0” signal voltage between -3 to +5 V as defined by EN 61131-2 type 3 standards. The terminal does not require manual configuration or address setting. The EtherCAT terminal features a galvanic isolation barrier rated for 500 V between the E bus communication interface and the field side power supply. This isolation protects the internal communication circuitry from external voltage transients and ground loops. For mounting, it features a double slot and key connection mechanism that allows side by side installation with other terminals. The device is also compatible with pluggable wiring.
The ES1008 EtherCAT terminal consumes approximately 90 mA from the E bus and about 2 mA plus load on the power contacts. The terminal is suitable for use in temperatures (operating) from - 25 °C to + 60 °C while its storage temperature spans from - 40 °C to + 85 °C. Its protection rating is IP20 and it weighs around 55 grams. The terminal is particularly effective in reducing input noise due to its integrated filter that makes it ideal for processing signals from mechanical switches. The module is electrically isolated that protects both the terminal and connected devices from voltage surges.
