Product Description:
EP1957-2222 is a TwinSAFE EtherCAT box designed for safety applications. It supports safety over EtherCAT and is equipped with 4 fail-safe outputs and 8 fail-safe inputs. EtherCAT and Safety over EtherCAT are both technologies patented and licensed by Beckhoff. Only personnel who have read and understood operating instructions should perform commissioning. TwinSAFE components should only be handled at protected workspaces. A PELV/SELV power supply with maximum 36 Volts DC output should be used to supply 24 Volts DC to the box. EtherCAT box modules, such as the EP1957-2222, are used to extend EtherCAT systems. High-speed EtherCAT connectivity is used to connect I/Os connected to these boxes to controllers on EtherCAT networks. These compact boxes are highly suitable for locations with space restrictions. With IP67 protection, these boxes can be used without control cabinets or terminal boxes.
Pre-assembled Beckhoff cables simplify installation. The EP1957-2222 box support 8 inputs and 4 outputs. It can be used with digital inputs rated for 24 Volts DC such as pull cord switches, safety mats, laser scanners and emergency stop push buttons. The digital outputs can connect to 24 Volts DC actuators such as valves, door switches and contactors. M12 connectors provide input and output connections. LED indicators are provided for the inputs and outputs, diagnostics and EtherCAT. The typical response time is 4 milliseconds. The watchdog time is adjustable from 2 milliseconds to 60 seconds. Maximum 100 meters cable is allowed between sensors and the EtherCAT box. The clock outputs deliver 10 milliamps output current. The maximum output current of the sensor supply is 250 milliamps. Power loss of the EtherCAT box is 4.7 Watts. There is no isolation between the channels.
