EP1008-0001 is an industrial EtherCAT box. Inputs connected to the box are isolated for safety and security. The box acts as an interface between process level digital inputs and the higher level controls. M8 screw type connections provide terminal wiring for the inputs. The box supplies electrical power for the connected sensors. An internal power module with short-circuit protection supplies sensor power. The input filter duration is 3 milliseconds, which makes the box suitable for connection to mechanical and electronic inputs. The interface for the inputs is has a 4-pin interface with shielding. The EP1008-0001 features 8 digital inputs with a nominal input voltage of 24 Volts DC. Each input is a-coded with a 3-pin connection. An input binary 0 corresponds to voltages between -3 and 5 Volts. An input binary 1 corresponds to voltages between 11 and 30 Volts.

The typical input current value is 3 milliamps. Power supply connection for the feed is one M8 male socket with 4 pins for the downstream connection and one M3 female socket. The EP1008-0001 box can supply 0.5 Amps to each connected sensor. Mechanical specifications for the EtherCAT box include 165 grams weight and dimensions at 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters. It housing is made with polyamide. The ingress protection rating of the I/O box is IP65, which makes is dustproof and safe from water coming from low-pressure water jets. This robust housing provides environmental safety and enables box deployment in a wide range of operating conditions. Two fixing holes on the box housing enable mounting to flat surfaces. The holes have a 3.5 millimeter diameter and are suitable for M3 size mounting screws.
