Installed inside a control cabinet, the unit aggregates mixed-signal I/O, motion feedback, and drive references so that a single compact slice can coordinate multiple motion axes on an EtherCAT strand. In an automation cell, it bridges field wiring to the central controller, translating encoder signals, digital states, and analog setpoints into deterministic bus data required for position control and machine sequencing.

This module supports an axis group of 4, and each axis can accept position feedback from 4 x 16-bit quadrature encoders that are routed through the RS-422 differential interface to ensure noise-immune transmission. Closed-loop sampling is synchronized by a 1 ms minimum cycle time, keeping following error low in high-speed pick-and-place tasks.
