Product Description:
The ELM3702-0000 is an analog input EtherCAT terminal produced by Beckhoff within the ELM EtherCAT Terminals series. It serves as a modular I/O element that converts sensor-level signals into synchronized digital data for industrial controllers. This supports precise monitoring of voltages and currents on distributed machines.
Primary conversion is handled by a Delta-Sigma modulator running at 8 Msps. Each of the 2 differential channels is then decimated through a sinc3/average digital filter whose cutoff precedes a programmable 2.6 kHz corner, while the stage settles 300 µs after a range change. The resultant resolution is 24 bit, and users can select from 68 measuring ranges to match signal amplitude. A 3rd-order Butterworth network with a hardware cutoff of 30 kHz removes out-of-band energy before the converter, preserving dynamic accuracy. Electrical safety between field wiring and the backplane is maintained by 707 V DC channel-to-E-bus isolation. These elements let the terminal track rapid transients while sustaining low quantization noise in sensitive measurement tasks.
Field conductors terminate on a 6-pin push-in spring-loaded block that permits toolless installation and repeated cycling without fatigue of screw clamps. The module draws 530 mA typ. from the EtherCAT E-bus and dissipates 3 W typ. as heat, figures necessary for power budgeting and ventilation planning in compact control cabinets. Its housing meets the IP20 protection class, confining the device to dry, enclosure-mounted environments where internal electronics stay shielded from particulate or fluid ingress. By executing all filtering and scaling internally, the ELM3702-0000 reduces processor overhead and shortens signal paths, supporting high-density, low-latency data acquisition in modern automation cells.
