Product Description:
The ELM3604-0000 is an analog input terminal manufactured by Beckhoff within the ELM EtherCAT Terminals series. It installs on an EtherCAT I/O station. The module converts low-level voltage signals into digital data for control applications. This supports precise process monitoring and closed-loop regulation in industrial automation systems. Because it is part of an EtherCAT terminal station, the unit suits modular machine layouts that combine sensing, control, and motion hardware in one I/O assembly.
This terminal uses a Delta-Sigma ADC method, which supports low-noise acquisition for dynamic measurements and small analog signal changes. The converter works internally at 5.12 Msps, while the user-selectable effective throughput is 20 ksps, balancing measurement bandwidth with deterministic bus transfer to the controller. Each of the four single-ended channels provides a resolution of 24 bit, allowing fine signal changes to be captured without external amplifiers. For anti-alias protection, a digital filter has a -3 dB corner at 5.3 kHz, and a separate hardware filter adds suppression at 30 kHz before sampled values are passed on. The four-channel format also keeps high-resolution analog measurement in a compact EtherCAT slice.
The electrical front end presents an input impedance of 2 MΩ || 1 nF, which helps minimize sensor loading while maintaining defined capacitive behavior for fast settling. Galvanic separation between field wiring and the EtherCAT supply is provided by functional insulation rated at 707 V DC, reducing the chance of common-mode faults reaching the bus. The housing is rated IP 20 for finger-safe cabinet installation, and continuous service is specified across -25 to +60 °C. This range supports use in cooled enclosures as well as warmer machine sections. Integral E-bus power distribution and push-in service connectors support orderly station integration beside high-density digital and motion modules.
