The EK1814-0000 is an EtherCAT coupler module produced by Beckhoff and assigned to the EK EtherCAT Couplers series. It links distributed I/O stations to the real-time fieldbus so that controllers receive fast digital signals over standard Ethernet wiring. Within an automation cabinet, the unit serves as the interface between upstream network segments and local 24 VDC sensors and actuators. It also transfers process data between the EtherCAT network and attached terminals, allowing local signals to be gathered and switched through a compact station.

Its communication channel operates at 100 MBaud, and the physical layer is provided through 2 × RJ45 sockets that form the EtherCAT in and out ports. The power contacts forward a nominal 24 VDC supply to field devices, while each output channel can deliver up to 0.5 A for coils, pilot valves, or indicator lamps. An internal E-bus carries module data and logic power at 1000 mA, allowing several terminal slices to be added without external feeds.
