Product Description:
The EK1541 is an EtherCAT coupler designed for use with polymer optical fiber as the data transfer medium. The EtherCAT coupler is a communication link between EtherCAT terminals and EtherCAT operating software. A station on the EtherCAT network consists of one coupler connected to several EtherCAT terminals. These terminals support automatic detection and are added to the process image. The EK1541 coupler supports two optical fiber links. The maximum connection length can go up to 50 meters. ID switches on the device can be used to implement different network topologies. The main task of the coupler is to couple EtherCAT terminals to optical fiber networks and provide identity verification at the same time.
The coupler can handle up to 4.2 Gigabytes of input/output points and provide 4096 configurable IDs. Processing delay for data passing through the EK1541 coupler is 1 microsecond. Data transfer rate provided by the coupler is 100 Mbps. The device requires 24 Volts DC power with 20% allowed tolerance. Current draw of the device is 130 milliamps from the power supply. Weight of this coupler device is approximately 190 grams. The specified ambient conditions are -25 to 60 degrees Celsius for operation and -40 to 85 degrees Celsius for storage. For EMC the device conforms to EN 6100-6-2. Protection class of the device is IP20 and it can be installed in different orientations. Approvals and markings for the device include CE and UL. The compact coupler has a housing made of polycarbonate. Its dimensions are 51 x 100 x 69 millimeters. Adjacent mounting of units is feasible.
