Product Description:

The EK1101-0000 is part of the EK EtherCAT Coupler series designed by Beckhoff Automation to facilitate communication in automation systems. This product improves industrial communication by carrying out the connection of EtherCAT device protocols with the EtherCAT terminals. The EtherCAT protocols are sent into the coupler through an Ethernet 100BASE-TX cable, which maintains a data transmission rate of 100 megabits per second. The coupler converts the signals it receives to E-bus signal representation in passing with minimum Latency. In the EtherCAT network system, this product can be installed anywhere. It exclusively processes in unaddressed MAC Broadcast telegrams of the type EtherCAT device Protocol from the EtherCAT master.

This product also supports the Hotconnets procedure, which means the ID can be set on the device through three rotary selection switches within the range of 0 to 4095 (hexadecimal) Also, the ID is readable online by the EtherCAT master through the process data. The EK1101-0000 EtherCAT coupler can be connected to another coupler over a length of about 100 meters; also, the number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system is up to 65535. The E-bus power supply from this product depends on the ambient temperature at which the coupler is being used. Between -25 to +55 degrees Celsius, the product can deliver a maximum of 2 amperes of current; however, if the ambient temperature is about 55 degrees, the maximum current deliverable through the E-bus is 1 Ampere.

The EK1101-0000 E-bus coupler can be used in an environment with relative humidity up to 95 per cent. Also, condensation in and around the product should be avoided to prevent damage. The protection rating of the product is about IP20.
