Product Description:

The EK1100-0018 is one of the many products built by Beckhoff Automation to improve industrial automation operation. It is a compact and very durable EtherCAT Coupler that serves as the link between the EtherCAT protocol at the fieldbus level and the EtherCAT terminals used in industrial communication. This product helps to convert information sent from the Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation. There are two RJ45 connection sockets present on the EK1100-0018 Couper; the upper socket is intended for the direct connection of the coupler to the network, while the lower socket provides customers with the additional option to connect another EtherCAT device in the same segment of the coupler. The second EtherCAT junction can also be used to set up a line or star topology.

The EK1100-0018 coupler requires shielded Ethernet or EtherCAT cables for the transfer of data between stations; also, the possible distance between two stations featuring the coupler is about 100 meters. The EK1100-0018 Coupler contains up to 65,534 EtherCAT terminals in total. During operation, this product requires a constant supply of <<24 volts of direct current>>; also about 70 milliamperes of current is consumed from the supply. The current supply through the E-bus on this product is approximately 2000 milliamperes while the electrical isolation is about 500 volts.

The EK1100-0018 is built to meet the IP20 protection class. To maintain product quality, the product should be protected from dust and water spray. Apart from direct installation at the switch, this coupler can be installed anywhere in the Ethernet Signal Transfer section without any problem. The delay in the communication of this product is approximately 1 microsecond.
