Product Description:
The EJ9400-0000 is an additional supply module from Beckhoff that belongs to the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. Within an EtherCAT I/O environment it extends the available back-plane power so that downstream plugin terminals receive stable logic energy. Installed in a control cabinet alongside other EJ cards, the unit bridges the E-bus power rails and ensures that the overall automation node maintains voltage integrity under expanded load.
The power rail behind the card is held at 3.3 V and the module can source up to 2.5 A to adjacent plugins. A common ground reference ties every module on the bus to the same zero-volt plane, preventing differential offsets that could disturb signal quality. A built-in E-bus refresh feature re-clocks and re-stabilizes the local supply so that voltage drop along longer terminal strings is minimized. Since its firmware registers it as an additional supply module, the EtherCAT master immediately interprets the card as a power extension rather than an I/O endpoint and assigns it no process data, which simplifies addressing.
Mechanical integration is handled by the Signal Distribution Board; the module is simply pressed into the board’s keyed socket, and an SELV/PELV certified supply circuit feeds the front-end power pins to meet IEC safety requirements. If needed, an optional reset line can be wired so that a host controller can toggle the module and force a localized power-on sequence after a fault. Even with this added control line the plug-in footprint remains unchanged, preserving the compact grid spacing typical of the Beckhoff hardware platform. These characteristics match the modular approach promoted throughout the EJ EtherCAT Plugins family, allowing designers to enlarge a node’s power capability without altering the underlying communication topology.
