EJ9001 is a Beckhoff placeholder module. It is designed for EtherCAT systems. The module can be inserted into unused slots on a signal distribution board. When required, the placeholder module can be removed, and a function module can be inserted to add desired functionality. The module draws 60 milliamps from the E-bus and provides electrical isolation measuring 500 Volts between the E-bus and field potential. Weight of the placeholder module is approximately 30 grams. For operation, Beckhoff recommends keeping the ambient temperature at or above -25 degrees Celsius and at or below 60 degrees Celsius. For storage, Beckhoff recommends keeping the ambient temperature at or above -40 degrees Celsius and at or below 85 degrees Celsius. Condensation should not form on the module and the relative humidity must not go above 95%.
For EMC emissions and immunity the EJ9001 complies with multiple international standards, including EN 61000-6-4 and EN 61000-6-2. For shock and vibration resistance the module complies with multiple standards, including EN 60068-2-27 and EN 60068-2-6. Protection rating of the EJ9001 placeholder module is IP20. The module can be installed in multiple orientations. It is UL approved and CE marked. The polycarbonate housing has dimensions of 12 x 66 x 55 millimeters. Installation location of the device is on a signal distribution board. It locks via latch lug into a cut-out on the circuit board. The module provides operators with flexibility by preventing dust build up on the distribution board until the time that a specific function module needs to be installed. The placeholder module also prevents accidental access to the distribution board which is necessary for preventing accidental damage and injury to working personnel.
