Product Description:
The EJ8905 from Beckhoff is designed to facilitate signal distribution in control and automation applications using EtherCAT plug-in modules. Because it is small, the EJ8905 fits perfectly with other Beckhoff units to make sure that EtherCAT communication in industrial automation works well and is reliable.
The EJ8905 EtherCAT plug-in uses a 4-layer PCB with a normal thickness of 1.6 mm ± 10%, to make sure that the structure is strong and that it works at its best. For accurate EtherCAT signaling, the differential impedance of LVDS lines is kept at 100 Ω, and grounding through SGND mounting bolts provides strong shielding connections. Modules must be mounted on a control cabinet with precise spacing between them to prevent signal interference and ensure proper airflow. Differential E-bus signals are run on the inner PCB layers to keep EMC problems to a minimum. These signals are protected by SGND copper fills that lower electromagnetic interference. The series also follows routing rules that say to stay away from vias in differential pairs and keep three times the distance between differential pairs to keep signals clear and crosstalk to a minimum.
The E-bus runs at 3.3 V and powers the EtherCAT plug-in separately, and field-side electronics are powered separately to keep them from interfering with each other. For extra EMC security, shielding connections are grounded with metal bolts. The EJ8905 modules can distribute power and make high-reliability links. They are often used with the EJ1101 and EJ2889 to get more out of them. For physical installation, there should be 4 mm of space between the component and the mounting surface and 92 mm of space for servicing access. We ship all over the world and guarantee that all of our products will be fixed or replaced within a year.
Frequently Asked Questions about EJ8905:
Q: Do EJ8905 modules require specific mounting clearance?
A: Yes, proper clearance is needed to avoid signal interference and support adequate cooling. This optimizes module lifespan and performance stability.
Q: How does the EJ8905 manage high thermal output?
A: The EJ8905 design requires ventilation space for heat dissipation. This keeps operating temperatures stable for safe, efficient functioning.
Q: Why avoid vias in differential pairs on EJ8905?
A: Avoiding vias in differential pairs helps maintain signal integrity. It minimizes interference, ensuring clean signal distribution across the board.
Q: Does the EJ8905 support isolated power supplies?
A: Yes, the EJ8905 uses distinct power sources for E-bus and field-side electronics. This prevents interference and protects connected equipment.
Q: How does grounding via SGND benefit the EJ8905?
A: Grounding via SGND bolts enhances EMC protection and reduces electromagnetic interference. This ensures more stable signal distribution and communication.
