The EJ EtherCAT Plugins series includes the Beckhoff EJ7342-0035, a strong and high-performance plugin module developed for small drive applications that need a direct motor connection. It has a 35 mm diameter, M16 x 2.0 thread, and weighs 420 grammes. Its stainless steel body makes it very resistant to corrosion, so it may be used in tough and demanding conditions. It works well at temperatures between -40°C and +250°C. This plugin uses the EJ7342 compact drive technology and has two channels. Each channel may operate a Direct Current (DC) brush motor with built-in encoder and end-position inputs. The device can produce up to 3.5 A (Amperes) per channel at 8–48 V DC (Volts of DC Direct) and has PWM switching at 32 kHz, which lets it work over a 0 – 100% duty cycle with great efficiency. It has high-precision control with 10-bit current and 16-bit speed resolution. It can also take encoder input signals from 5 to 24 Volt DC with rates of up to 400,000 increments/s. The EJ7342-0035 has characteristics including travel distance control, distributed clocks, and 500 V electrical isolation (E-bus to field) that make it a dependable and accurate drive control. This module connects to a signal distribution board via 2 x 20 pin socket strips and installs using a latching lug. The device is 24 mm x 66 mm x 55 mm and is protected by IP20. It also meets all EMC and vibration/shock criteria (EN 61000-6-2, EN 60068-2-6).
