Product Description:
The EJ7211-9414 plug-in module is a single-axis servo drive from Beckhoff that belongs to the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. It mounts on a carrier board inside control cabinets and interfaces directly with small permanent-magnet motors used in machinery. By combining power electronics and fieldbus communication inside a compact card, the device enables precise speed and torque regulation for distributed motion tasks in industrial automation. The module routes power, signal, and fieldbus contacts through standardized edge connectors, simplifying board layout. This format also supports dense cabinet layouts where several motion channels must be placed close to machine I/O.
It drives permanent-magnet synchronous servomotors and can deliver up to 276 W of mechanical output, which suits light-duty axes such as pick-and-place grippers or format adjustment slides. Two assignable control lines act as 2 digital inputs, allowing start, homing, or mode selection without extra I/O modules. Internally, the amplifier is tuned for a servomotor load, providing sinusoidal commutation and current-loop timing matched to the rotor magnets. For edge-triggered positioning, the touch-probe function accepts a +24 V signal so the controller can capture encoder positions when external sensors detect a product or registration mark.
The communication layer features EtherCAT support, so the unit exchanges process data every bus cycle and fits into real-time network topologies without separate wiring. Functional safety is addressed through integrated STO support, which removes drive energy through hardware-gated outputs when an emergency stop chain is activated. For synchronized probing, the board provides 2 touch probe inputs, and each one is monitored independently from the main task cycle. That arrangement helps the axis react quickly to inspection or registration events while maintaining deterministic network timing. When applications require category-rated safety logging, the integrated TwinSAFE SC support allows direct connection to Beckhoff safety controllers for channel diagnostics and state acknowledgment.
