The EJ3108-0000 is an eight-channel analog input plug-in supplied by Beckhoff within the EJ EtherCAT Plugins series. Designed for distributed control cabinets built around the EtherCAT backplane, this module accepts voltage signals from field devices and forwards digitized values to the controller, enabling compact and scalable measurement tasks inside automated machinery. It snaps into the board through a card-edge connector and uses the system’s E-bus to exchange I/O data and receive operating power, so analog sensing can be integrated without external wiring harnesses.
Physically, the plug-in occupies a profile of 12 mm in width, 55 mm in depth, and 66 mm in height, allowing dense stacking on the carrier board. Internally, it routes eight input channels, including 6 differential inputs that isolate paired signal lines, while two single-ended inputs share a common reference. Each channel is digitized at 16-bit resolution, so the controller reads 65,536 discrete steps across the selected range. Conversion accuracy is maintained with a measurement error of less than ±0.3% of full scale, provided that the common-mode voltage does not exceed ±8 V. Under EtherCAT timing, the hardware can update these values with a minimum cycle time of 1 ms, matching fast motion or process loops.
At the network edge, sensor wiring may extend to a maximum cable length of 30 m without signal repeaters, supporting distributed panel layouts. During each bus cycle, the module contributes 16 bytes of process image inputs, so the PLC can fetch raw values without extra protocol overhead. It draws its logic and ADC power directly via the E-bus, eliminating separate 24 V feeders and simplifying carrier-board copper pours. Reliable operation is permitted at an operating altitude of 2,000 m, making the EJ3108-0000 suitable for most factory floors and elevated installations where ambient air pressure does not affect analog accuracy.
